Vegas: Day 2

Today we ate lunch at the BEST cafe in Vegas, Max’s Cafe. They have $3.99 burgers, chicken clubs, grilled mahi sandwiches, and appetizers. They have other items for $5 and $6 that looked pretty good, too. The best thing is they have free wi-fi access!! WOOT! That has proven to be a very difficult thing to find. Tab bought some more comfortable sandals. That’s made walking around much easier. Her other sandals were killing her feet. Word to the wise: when you come to Vegas, bring your walking shoes!! You can read about her shoes on Tab’s blogsite, mstabbycat.com.

We checked out the Conservatory at the Bellagio after lunch and they had a model railroad theme going this week. It was really cool, but then I’m into model railroading. :) …I know, I’m a dork. :P Here are some pictures.

After that, Tab went back to the room and took a nap while I went over to the Flamingo and played $2/$4 hold’em. I cashed out down $18. :( I would have been up by about that much but for a king on the river. I’d flopped a set of eights, and someone chased an inside straight draw all the way to the river. …they hit it. grr. arg.

That evening, we took the “Deuce”, the local bus, to downtown Vegas. WOW! Downtown and the strip are so very different. The strip is fun and fancy, but downtown felt more like the old-school Vegas. It was great!! We went to Binion’s and saw the Poker Hall of Fame and the Gallery of Champions. WOW! That was the coolest thing ever!!! Playing craps there was pretty cool, too. I cashed out with $125 in profit AFTER a $15 tip to the dealer, $2 tip to the cocktail waitress, and $7 in souvenier chips. :D Here are some picts from downtown.
